Premier Inn St Albans City Centre hotel

Staff here are excellent, very friendly and polite. The hotel location is in the centre of St Albans and near a big multi-storey car park, and there are a lot of things to do within walking distance. The room was very clean, so no fault there, but in need of minor maintenance. For example, the rail in the bath was loose, as was the shower head connector, and two lights did not work (there are a lot of lights in the room though). Overall, a good choice.

Unfortunately we upgraded to one of the new premier rooms but the fridge didn't work. I'd have told the receptionist but every time we went past reception going out or coming in, there was no one there.
I thought the usb port by the bed would be handy, but didn't realize it would only be one, on one side of the bed! The other didn't have a plug socket either.
We were in town for a birthday celebration and to be honest it wasn't worth the extra money paid, which was disappointing.
Also, don't put the hotel itself in your sat nav because it tried to take us down a pedestrian street; we had to Google map the closest car park - not sure it mentions that on the website, but the discounted parking was a bonus, so don't forget to find a member of staff (if you can) to validate it.

Room was very dark and pretty small compared to other Premier Inn’s we’ve stayed at. It was situated at back of building with view over a fairly busy access road.

Room had a distinct damp smell, possibly not helped by being north facing, but with evidence of a leak in the bathroom which hadn’t been repainted. Felt like the kind of hotel Premier Inn helped phase out in the 1990s.

Hotel fully booked so no chance to change rooms. We’d have left and checked in elsewhere but too late and too tired after a long day.

We’ve been Premier Inn regulars for well over 25 years and this is the most disappointing stay we’ve had.

Positives:
Staff, as always, very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast good.
Powerful shower.
Comfy beds.
Clean.
Good noise insulation, which was essential in busy city location.

Nice location, nice bed but the room was run down and noisy (there is a nightclub next door). We booked several rooms for a wedding and too many had a disturbed night. Not a stay to be repeated

Great location in City Centre, a nice clean room, good, friendly customer service from all staff. Although my room looked out onto a nightclub adjacent I didn't hear any noise from the street below. I would stay there again.

The hotel was everything that you'd expect from a Premier Inn - clean, comfortable, well maintained.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The location is ideal for exploring St Albans on foot and close to a range of good restaurants.

Lovely hotel. Rooms where clean and modern. Breakfast was what you can expect from a premier Inn. The staff where really friendly and helpful. I will definitely book this hotel again when I'm staying in this area
