Barony Castle Hotel

A great welcome when we arrived at the hotel with very attentive reception staff.
An excellent meal in the dining room with very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Bar staff were also very professional in their service and knowledge.
Definitely worth a return visit by us and anyone else who enjoys good food in first class surroundings.

Booked a quiet weekend retreat for my 80 year old parents and myself and they allocated us rooms directly above the stage in their function sweet that had weddings both nights of our stay. Complaints to the night porter on the first night and desk staff the next day fell on deaf ears. I had discussed the reason for our booking with the hotel when making the reservation so to put us in these rooms was utterly disgraceful. Please do not go there.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first time at an events evening. Booked accommodation too. Dinner was delicious. Nice mix of company once found our table. Rooms clean and comfortable as was the bed. I'm not usually one for a grill led or fried up breakfast but treated myself during my stay - very tasty and fulfilling. The Scottish map in the grounds of Castle is lovely to visit. Highly recommended.

The buffet breakfast was really quite tasty. Could I suggest a better coffee machine and proper orange juice would make a huge difference.
Staff need to be more attentive as I was left waiting at an unattended bar on more than one occasion.
The first days breakfast was the same with quite a long wait to be seated. The second day, for the buffet, the sign saying "wait to be seated" was removed. A bit confusing 😕

Good hotel, with nice amenities and friendly staff. Parking right out front is ideal. Stayed a fair few times here any always enjoy it. Friends have got married here and always compliment how good the process is for that too.

We stopped by the Barony today as my wife had a Spa appointment and we had lunch beforehand.
My wife was delighted with the massage and facial and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The food though was a bit of a disappointment. My sourdough bread was solid and a bit stale, though the soup was good.
We had our wedding reception here 31 years ago and we've been frequent visitors since.
The service is always good, but this is the first time I've not found the food first class.
Maybe next time.

This hotel provides Scottish hospitality at its best! This is our second visit and the setting is absolutely amazing! The grounds are beautiful and great for walking the dog. The staff are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.The food at breakfast and dinner is of the highest quality. Our rooms have been comfortable and clean. The hotel is family run and a refreshing change to the hotel chains that we are becoming accustomed to. We absolutely recommend it!!

First stay with our new puppy and I can’t recommend Barony Castle highly enough. On arrival, staff were great with our new family member and he got some treats at check-in. Our room was a long walk from reception but it was perfectly situated at the end of the hotel next to a door that we could take pup out if he needed the loo. Room was comfy and clean. Dinner and breakfast were both great and doggo even got mandatory sausages delivered from the kitchen. Grounds are great for an explore and if you do fancy a change it’s not far to Peebles. I’ll definitely be heading back.
