One star as I would give no stars if it were possible. I had an amazon parcel delivered to this post office. This is possibly the rudest woman I've ever met. How on earth she can run a customer facing business. She decided she would serve another person that arrived afterwards instead of me. Then she complained in a strict manner that the parcel delivered to her could have gone through a letterbox. I pointed out that our house doesn't have a letterbox that big. She proceeded to have a face that would sour milk. When I pointed out that there is another parcel to come possibly later she snapped there are no more deliveries today.
Rude is an understatement. I really don't know how this place is still open. An email is being sent to the head post office about her attitude.

We've used Bucks shop since 2000. Always stocked with quality branded products and essentials. The girls who run it are brilliant. Wouldn't miss my weekly visit!

Love this little Post office / shop, so much better than the Bideford Bay holiday park shop for essentials.
It's an older worlde shop, probably not disabled friendly but it's small, also you would be hard pressed to get a pushchair around but like I said it's small.
Good range of daily papers, cakes, treats groceries and household products also they sell plants and souvenirs.
The lady who served me was very nice, pleasant with a welcoming persona.
I would have liked to have given this five stars, however whilst I was in the shop another customer came in no mask, the lady serving no mask, another customer went in as I was leaving no mask.
In this current climate and with it being law to wear masks in all retail outlets that is why it loses a star.
Also the shop is just off the main road so I expect they have a few comuters popping in.
Covid - 19 is rampant and it only takes one person to spread the infection. Such a shame the law is not adhered to. In an otherwise lovely little shop.

I echo the same reviews as people on here - one of the ladies has no customer service skills, rude to customers and could do with s helping hand.

I'll be keeping away from the shop in future which is a real shame - the shop could do with a good old spring clean and wet cloth around the edges which clearly hasn't been done for some time.

The shop has real potential with it's location and it's size - ironically the lady from New Zealand mentioned how she didn't like holiday makers which I feel must be supportive for their local shop.

Personally, I’d avoid at all cost for your mental well-being. The rudest staff (same 2 ladies everyone else is mentioning) grace, politeness, charm, charisma - all the things you shall not experience. Upon reading reviews it seems there’s a few 5 stars with no comments, but lots of 1 stars with the same experiences which seems quite funny..

For such a quaint village, with lovely locals and lots of tourists throughout the year, I’m surprised people put up with their rude attitudes. Considering they work in customer service they have absolutely no people skills and make your experience feel like a burden.

Woolsery , Hartland and Bradworthy are the neighbouring villages that have gorgeous village shops and are lovely to everyone. The villages shops all have lovely staff, always smiley and cheerful, I end up purchasing and standing to chat for a few minutes usually. I couldn’t stand the behaviour and attitudes within the bucks cross shop, it was better for us to leave and get our bits done elsewhere as it felt hostile and very uncomfortable.

This is not something you’d experience anywhere else locally, it really doesn’t represent the locals or how the people are in the area. But being the only shop in the village they’re the first faces you’d see and it will put you off and leave you with a negative impression.

I really really want to reiterate to anyone whose needing to visit this shop, the attitudes you’ll face do not represent the local area. You will have a negative experience but go anywhere else and you’ll see a stark difference..

Forever grateful for the all the alternate options and apologies from a local if you’re visiting, once you leave the shop, life gets happier again I promise haha

I have never in my 31 years of life experienced such disgusting attitudes and outright disrespect from people working in customer service. My first and last visit to this shop. I was pre-warned but doubted how bad it would actually be. I feel AWFUL for the locals to bucks cross that have to put up with the outright disrespect and vile nature's of the spinsters working there. I would advise the staff book themselves on to some basic customer service skill courses, or perhaps look for a profession that doesn't involve working with the general public. If I could give negative stars I would! I would suggest visiting Woolsery shop or Bradworthy shop, if possible, as they are SO much better, the staff are always brilliant - maybe the staff at bucks cross could spend a day at one of those shops and pick up some basic people skills. Visiting this shop is GUARANTEED to ruin your mood and your day, locals and tourists alike. Awful place, awful atmosphere, awful service, awful staff, awful owners. I feel lucky that it's not my local and would rather drive in to bideford than experience that again. Praise will be the day new owners take over, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Worst customer experience in 3 decades. The ladies that own this shop are outright rude, disrespectful and arrogant to say the least. Some BASIC training in people skills would go a LONG way. If you hate your job THAT much why do it? A visit to this shop will kill any kind of happiness or joy you are currently experiencing. DO NOT VISIT. And if you have to, put on some emotional armour and don't expect anything but feeling like a hindrance to their day. How they are still in business baffles me, i guess unfortunately many locals and tourists have no choice but to continue lining the pockets of these vile people. Head to woolsery, Bradworthy or Hartland if possible, sheesh even bideford, and if you do decide to visit bucks cross shop... brace yourselves, and don't say I didn't warn you!

If you’re looking to be disrespected this is the place for you. I feel sorry for the Bideford bay guests and locals as this is their only option without having to hop in a car. Both the ladies have an attitude serving people, which is extremely handy being shopkeepers.. As a local and the brilliant Woolsery shop being closed temporarily for maintenance works, this was our next option. I popped in to stick some electric on the key, walked in and said hello, the lady behind the till ignored us and continued to read her newspaper, the lady in the post office begrudgingly gave us her attention whilst we asked if they do key top-ups. She looked at me as if I’d asked to defecate on the shop floor, I asked again if they do electric and she gave the most miserable face and sigh. I just said to not bother. She managed to muster up a little more energy in her voice as I was walking out and said ‘no, we can do your electric’.. I said not to worry as they’re very rude, they genuinely seemed shocked and offended that someone would take their business elsewhere as a result of not just feeling unwelcome, but as if it was a hinderance to their day.

For alternate options, unfortunately it does mean driving, Woolsery shop throughout various different owners has been amazing, the loveliest of staff and we usually finish our shop off with a natter which is a lush perk of living amongst these beautiful villages. Heartland also, they’re brilliant and you’d never feel unwelcomed. It’s such a shame residents and tourists have no alternative within bucks cross. maybe bideford bay should open a should within it as it’d probably protect their holiday makers for experiencing the most un-devonlike people. Please don’t think even 1% of people around here are as dry and cold as these ladies.

If you have to visit this shop, my recommendations would be to put on the most sarcastic happy faces, go in very perky and positive as I’m sure this is how you defeat vampires!
