This surgery needs looking into.
There's one receptionist who acts like she's a warden at Alkatraz, not letting anyone in for an appointment.
Then there is the medical staff...after waiting two days for a callback (how they are unable to call people when they're not seeing many patients is Incredible), the Dr hangs up after one ring then phones back 5hrs later after 7pm.
A call I missed so now I have to wait another two days and hope Dr B actually allows me to speak to him.
None of us I'm sure are calling a Dr's surgery for fun. There are ACTUAL medical reasons yet we are treated like annoying time wasting flies.
Whenever I have phoned I have been treated with respect by the receptionist.
Then my 1 year old got referred to the GP for a check up, the dr that assisted was kind, fast in her assesment and said that she will make notes and have another dr decide if he needs to be seen again.
I then received a follow up appointment that was made on my behalf, again. I phoned the surgery to let them know that unfortunately this time I won't be able to make the appointment assigned to me and if perhaps we can reschedule the review. The lady that assisted stated that the Dr's are busy and no other time slots are available, not this week nor next week. I explained again that I really can't make it to the surgery at the time given, she then said that I should try get a taxi to take me to the surgery (not knowing my situation at home) and when I said I really can't the tone of the lady changed. Which really disappointed me.
I do understand that GPs are incredibly busy and as far as possible I try to manage what I can at home and don't make appointments for no reason, every mom knows how difficult it is to keep little ones healthy this time of year especially. These appointments were made on my behalf, after managing for nearly 3 weeks with a sick child and then I'm treated rudely because I can't make it. What was even more upsetting is that there was no understanding nor was there any urge to find a solution 😕
I can understand that the NHS is under pressure and I'm always willing to wait and understand if nurses and Dr's feel rushed. But what I don't understand is why people, receptionists, feel the need to be rude and assume that all people are misusing the NHS or don't appreciate the effort made.
Very disappointed as the care received was really good, despite the rush.
Booster vaccination:
I was referred to 'Mawsley' clinic for my booster vaccination via Dryland Surgery (Kettering). The alloted appointment slots for Dryland Surgery patients was for one weekend (5 days notice). Unfortunately I work weekends 6-6. But, I figured that shouldn't be a problem, I will call and ask for an appointment during the week.
Receptionist:-
"Oh, no! Sorry, you can't come during the week as these are reserved exclusively for Mawsley patients only!!"
There is so much exclusivity and snobbery in getting this vaccination, that people miss the point in why everybody needs to get vaccinated!!
Dryland Surgery were not helpful whatsoever. It really is a lottery whether you have a good Surgery that is willing to facilitate these vaccinations.
Original complaint:
Dryland surgery failed to contact me for the Covid vaccination. We are currently going through the biggest health crisis to face this country in generations and the only form of communication for the Covid-19 jab is a text message! The rhetoric was 'Do not contact us, we'll contact you'. I do find it hard to believe that you did not have my number, but if that was the case, then why didn't you contact me via post! It's no good telling me, 'Oh! You were on our list to contact, sorry we couldn't get hold of you'. My address hasn't changed and neither has my email in over 18yrs. You have a duty of care to your patients and you've failed them.
