Genuinely so happy with how everything went, from the atmosphere to incredible service to delicious food, thank you so much to their whole team!
The steak is, as expected, beautiful but the other menu options are just as good. I recommend the seabass!
Our server Kerry provided outstanding customer service without being over bearing. The Cow Cigar starters are actually lamb, not beef as you might expect and they are very tasty, the ground lamb is flavourful and well-spiced, the thin golden pastry is crispy just the right thickness. A dipping sauce like sweet chilli would be even better with the cow cigars. Angry Chix are crispy boneless chicken fillets topped with hot sauce, creamy mayo and spring onions. Angry Chix sauce has a decent heat level🌶 , even for me and I have quite a tolerance to hot pepper. The fries are a triumph, hot and fresh, the correct amount of salt and extremely moreish. 🍟😋
Although we didn't have a main course, we treated ourselves to dessert because... we can. Adulting is hard, treat yourself sometimes! The chocolate fondant was sublime, not too sweet with a excellent crumb and the perfect oozy centre. The sticky toffee pudding had a lovely homemade vibe about it but it was just a little too 'plump' so the middle was quite dry, an extra scoop of ice cream sorted that out and it was only 50p, what a bargain (in a restaurant). 🍫🍦
I'd definitely return to try their main courses or Sunday Roast.
The function room has its own bar which helps as well ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I would recommend you book in advance for 90-120 minutes to enjoy a 3 course meal at any time of the week. Sunday roast dinners are well done, no matter what time you arrive on the day and the drinks menu is extensive. The staff will recommend drinks to go with your meals should you require and they have always made great recommendations for us. The price range is typical for the area, I believe you do get what you pay for in regards to higher quality alcohol, meats, cheeses, nice dressings and accompaniments to meals. You would look at around £15-£18 for a Sunday roast dinner or main meal, the steak in the pictures was one of their specials on the day and cost £65 (T-Bone). The cocktails will be around £9-£11 and dessert is around £7.
If it is your first time and you want to try what they are best at, I would recommend that you go for a steak. The chateaubriand is a good option, however equally so are some of the cheaper cuts (they can also recommend the cut around how well cooked you enjoy your steak). The beef or 'bit of everything' mix is a good option for the Sunday roast dinner. Desserts are worth leaving a bit of room for, however they do fresh mint tea , dessert cocktails / wines and nice coffees.
