Restaurant review- Delicious food and excellent service. This was our first dinner in England and it did not disappoint. The vegan pakora was crunchy and full of flavor. The local pork was very fresh- I'm grateful they were able to make this dish dairy free for me. My friend had the venison and also enjoyed it. Their hospitality and kindness topped of the experience.

Three of us went to the Green Room for lunch, we had the £15.95 - 3 course menu (starter (or nibbles), main course and dessert).
Service was spot on, food delivered quickly and all hot and most of all extremely tasty. You can mix from today's special and the menu so lots of choice.
The setting is also very nice.
Can't fault it, we all cleared our plates.
Highly recommended.

A cosy, welcoming restaurant that always serves great food with fantastic service. Most recently we had the Christmas dinner which came out piping hot, in very generous protons, and tasted amazing. Couldn't fault a single thing about the entire meal.

What a pleasent surprise!! Things dont look so promising approaching from the street. But I must say, this is a beautiful building with a pleasent history.
The staff are more than welcoming helpful and informative. The venue is clean, bright, and traditionally aesthetic with a warm homely feel.

The Rooms - You'll find them clean, warm and comforting, just what you need for a short stay!

The Food - Don't get me started on the food, I have never had food taste so delicious before. Everything on the plate had a unique, succulant taste, even the carrots! Potatoes were cooked to perfection and the meat was beyond perfectly done.

All in all a bloody good bargain as it wasn't overly expensive. You get twice the service and quality than you get with Premier Inn for half the price.

Oh, and FREE Parking

We have eaten here many times since the resturant opened.
Tonight we went out on a "date night ". It was a Wednesday evening and we like to support local businesses independently owned during this current financial climate.
My wife ordered the aronchi balls as a starter and the special of the day, " Dorset plaice" with new potatoes etc I went for the pan seared squid and then a rib eye steak.

As we had entered the restaurant (passing the kitchen) I had mentioned to my wife a funny odour, which I couldn't Plaice !

The starters: 2 aronchi balls served with salad, very tasty, the squid was a bit light on the squid, but OK.

My wife's main : it was originally returned as the potatoes were not fully cooked, they returned shortly later with the waiter stating that there were "A few rogue hard ones in there (read all 4 !)". My wife's plaice, well I don't think it's normal for the fish to be served with the roe or liver cooked inside it and parts of the fish raw and pink.
Then we noticed that there was a very strange black, gritty sludge around the head end of the fish. When we asked the waiter what was it (the black sludge) the reply was "Oh that's just a bit of blood madam !" He made no comment about the roe/liver or the raw parts of the fish.

My steak, I ordered a medium rare rib eye and the parts that were edible were medium rare. The peppercorn sauce, was lacking in peppercorns, but in fairness it was described as a peppercorn sauce, not peppercorns. The chips were good, salad well dressed and a well cooked 1/2 a tomato.

Suffice to say, that was enough, I asked for the bill, the waiter (the only member of staff visible in the front of house) then just presented me with the full bill.

Paid and I'm afraid will be voting with my feet. No tip left but would suggest as a tip, clean the fish prior to cooking & cook properly.

I am saddened to be leaving this review, I am deeply disappointed and upset by the whole evening & experience.

Cauliflower pakoura for starters with avacado and lime chutney. Well I dont even like avacado but this dish came out like a onion bahji and was amazing. Rib eye for main course once again, cooked to perfection and table service was excellent. Value for money excellent.

Delicious food and lovely staff. We were here for a colleague’s farewell lunch and I found there was no vegetarian option on the Sunday Roast but we were well taken care of and we really had a good time. Desserts were fab! Special thanks to Tracey for helping out with the parking. We shall visit again soon guys!

The Green Room used to be a great place to eat. Been dining here for 20 years, but recently the food quality & service has plummeted. The last meal I had there will be my last visit which I am sad about after having such a lovely time there in the past. The restaurant was full of flies, large & small which was a bit off-putting from the start. I don’t know what makes their chef think it’s okay to serve raw potatoes alongside a fish with the liver and roe still attached and dark brown sludge oozing out. The waiter said “that’s just a bit of blood”. Yuck! I complained & refused to eat it, but they didn’t offer me an alternative, or take it off the bill. My husband’s medium rare steak was very fatty & a good vet could’ve got it back on its feet. Such a shame because The Green Room used to pay attention to detail and consistently serve excellent quality food in a friendly manner. My family & friends were very surprised when I shared my bad experience with them. I wish you better luck if you choose to eat here.
