The optician was really friendly and professional. He got my prescription right the first time and they had a really good choice of glasses.

I called last week to ask to order some new contact lenses and was informed I was due an eye test before I could order. I explained I would love to be able to be seen before my holiday, 1 week from the day I called and would appreciate being seen before then if at all possible. They squeezed me in and ordered me a few pairs for my holiday so that they would come on the day I came in for my eye test which was a very lovely gesture!

I visited today and the experience was lovely, the whole are team super friendly and welcoming. I have seen the same optician before and he is always very kind and informative throughout the appointment, he talks me through everything he is doing and also makes the effort to have general life chit chat which I think makes the experience a lot better. A lady named Lisa spent ages helping me choose my new frames as I’m always really indecisive when it comes to this. She listened to what I wanted and picked lots of appropriate ones for me to try and eventually found a pair that I loved!

Can’t praise this team enough! Really thankful for them seeing me so last minute.

Very, very impressed.

We booked an appointment for our first eye check-up in almost 10 years after we were both getting the odd headache from excessive screen use. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the store and how professional and friendly the staff were.

We were greeted at the door and didn’t have to wait for the eye exam to begin. Milin did the exams and was informative and reassuring throughout. My wife and I both chose to have the £25 additional scan. We felt it was best considering we hadn’t had it before and it had been such a long time since our last check. The results were explained in detail with images shown, which again was reassuring and informative.

We both needed updated glasses and were shown some options by a lady called Ana. I am extremely indecisive and not once did I feel pressured or rushed. I must have tried on over 50 pairs! Each needing to be sterilised afterwards! Ana was knowledgable about each of the frames, lenses and prices. I ended up preferring one of the cheapest pairs in the store, which my wife found amusing considering how much time I had taken. She picked a middle of the range pair and both chose to upgrade the lenses to the highest protection UV after Ana demonstrated the differences. We both work on computers and so it made sense for us.

The boots frames are very similar to the designer frames and so I would recommend buying the cheaper frames but the most expensive/protective lenses. £40 for the frames and £100 for the highest protection UV lenses. If you are not behind a screen as much as us then maybe the cheaper UV protection (£40 from memory).

Great experience at this opticians and would definitely recommend.

Thank you!

This is the way I have been dealt with today during my eye test at Boots Optician in Epping, Essex.

On my arrival at 12.30 I was greeted and helped by a very nice shop assistant called Claudia. This was the only positive part of my visit. Soon after she did the first introductory chores I was asked to enter the room of the Optician Mr Milin Soneji.

The Optician made the visit and was quite elaborate until he the end of the visit when I asked him to let me know my Pupillary Distance. At that point the Optician told me that unless I was going to buy glasses from the shop he would not tell me those details.

I then explained that I intended to get some glasses from the shop as well as wanting the opportunity to be able to get some online if I wanted to.
As I did not wished to have varifocal glasses I had the need to get three different prescription: reading, distance and intermediate. At that stage I did not know which I would get in the shop with the two for one and which I would get somewhere else.

The Optician referred to me with expression such as “that is how it works my friend”. Not a way to talk to a 52 years old person you have never meet in your life before.

Moreover I asked him if, on the boots website, was explained that the Pupillary Distance value was not going to be disclosed as part of the eye test and he said that it was stated. However, I have then checked it again and again and there is not such statement.

I left the shop feeling very upset as I was blackmailed by this Optician and frankly I felt I was robbed of my 25 pounds for this pointless visit. I have no trust in the outcome as I experienced the Optician to be unprofessional and untrustworthy.

This is an unacceptable way of being treated.
