I picked up my specs and at first glance was very pleased, but when I got home I noticed that the sunglasses didn’t look right, it seemed like the lens had been cut short and there was a gap around the rim which was already catching dust.
I returned to Boots Crawley and the first chap who saw me was nice enough and he called over a more senior member of staff to check. The more senior chap basically told be there was nothing wrong with them, but he would clean them for me. I told him I was not happy with this as they would simply collect dust again, he told me it looked like sand; I hadn’t even worn them.
He was rude, unhelpful and very dismissive. He simply said take a refund then as there is nothing wrong with them. I could not believe his attitude! He returned me to the first guy who was clearly embarrassed.
This was about the 4th time I had used Boots, my 3 pairs of specs were over £1,000 and I was shocked at this mans handling of the issue.
I will never go back to Boots for specs. I run my own business and I would never treat one of my customers in this way, he offered no solution other than cleaning. In his colleagues defence he did try to help me, but it was too late, his ‘senior’ had made me feel I was in the wrong and he dismissed me out of hand. I wish I got his name; if I was his boss I would want to know to ensure he didn’t treat any other customer in the same way.
I also use Boots hearing service and I cannot fault them, but as for the opticians, never again, they just lost a loyal customer.
The occupational health glasses for computer and reading are fine but having worn the long distance glasses for 2 weeks I was getting a pain in the back of my left eye every day and I ended up with a very blood shot eye which I took a photo of. I stopped wearing the glasses and after 2 days my left eye was back to normal. Wearing these glasses for driving, the speedo on my car was slightly blurry which my old glasses weren't.
I went back to the opticians today and had another test to be told they were baffled as to why the glasses are doing this to my eye and the speedo shouldn't be blurry on my car. They told me the prescription wasn't wrong and I could keep the two pairs of new glasses or get a refund. I said there's no point in keeping them as they were causing me more problems than wearing my old glasses. They told me the old glasses are not that different in strength and so going back to wearing them would be OK. Having spent a total of £330 in boots, I got a refund for £80 and to my shock the occupational glass's cost £225.
So why did boots say I need new long distance glasses because the old ones were too strong and then today say, wearing my old ones wouldn't make a lot of difference.
I am so angry, it's almost like I was sold new long distance glasses for the sake of it!! And paying £225 for occupational glasses disgusts me!!
I am now back to my old long distance glasses and feel the visits were a waste of time. Needless to say I will never go back to boots opticians again!!!!
10 days later I still have no phone call from them so I ring myself; they tell me they’ve been trying to contact me (they haven’t) and also the frames I ordered are discontinued! Why take my money in the first place then?!
