I am actually not a patient at this practice but my partner is.
My partner suffers with severe depression and anxiety and for the past 4 days has been trying to get a telephone appointment. 4 promises, 4 time slots given by the useless reception team and each day went by without a phone call or apology for the missed appointment.
My partner has been really struggling to cope and so after our 4th call today was missed we decided to call up again. The visit was again confirmed and at roughly 17:20 we received a call from the WRONG DOCTOR who disgusting claimed that the best thing my partner can do to help herself is join a choir!!!
During this USELESS phone call, my partner received a call to the same line by the doctor who deals with her mental health issues (Dr Chloe) who left a voice mail stating that my partner was to call straight back which we did. (within 5 minutes)
We unfortunately were put through to Vicky Allen who self proclaimed herself as the "best and most helpful receptionist at Thameside" (Laughable) who said that as my partner had already spoken with some other doctor who believes the cure to mental health can be found by joining a choir. - Upon expressing my disgust at this less than useless diagnosis and recommendation, Vicky felt the best course of action would be to rudely hang up and instruct us to call back later.
I called back and was shouted at whilst being told "I will hang up if you shout or swear at me" (ironic) who then made it perfectly clear that she would NOT be passing on a message to Dr Chloe as she's already spoken with someone.
It wasn't until I threatened further action including an official complaint that she reluctantly "supposedly" went to check with the doctor who although left a voicemail 5 minutes ago asking to call back now suddenly doesn't want to speak to her.
If this is how you treat people with mental health issues, or sick people in general you should all feel disgusted.
Please note that I have recordings of the phone call which was made clear at the start of my call.
Your receptionists need to undergo some SERIOUS training in both sensitivity, helpfulness and competency.
This is simply not good enough and if an apology is not provided we will be taking this further.
