This was a great find! The new owners have completely refurbished the interior and The Bitterne Park opened its doors again in September. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard, nice new beds and linen wonderfully comfortable and the walk in shower was better than I have had in 5* hotels. There is coffee and tea making facilities in the room, but no other catering service - yet. Not a problem as there is a Co-op, great cafe and choice of good restaurants and takeaways over the road in "The Triangle". The friendly and efficient managers Jack and Georgia said that the exterior of the hotel will be redecorated over the coming months, so don't be put off. And quite honestly, I would have been happy to pay more.

We booked this at the last minute as we couldn't find the hotel we had originally book. Upon arrival we shown to our room which was on the top floor of the building the building had no lifts. Upon entering our room, we were surprised to see how dull and dark the room was. It was basic, had a kettle but no cups or glasses not even spoons. The floor had sucken floor boards which are dangerous. The bed was to soft .
The only nice thing was the bathroom was modren. For £135.00 for two nights it wasn't worth the money for a room only. The staff member upon checking in was polite and gave us a hand with our luggage. This isn't a hotel it's a guest house and looked nothing like the pictures on the website.

Very noisy with restaurants kitchen downstairs which was smelly and greasy. Room very big but bed uncomfortable.

LOUD. Above a cocktail bar. We didn't know that upon booking. Our two young children had zero sleep, neither did we. We asked for the music to be turned down. It was ignored.
Basic rooms no parking.

Having a lovely walk along the river and park's watching people canoe is nice. Also a lovely pint of cider at the MBUNTU is highly recommended brilliant price also and good food.

Room was spacious there was a double and 2 full sized beds and a microwave and fridge in the room.
The only thing I would have to say negatively is that there were no cutlery or plates and bowls to use.

Clean and tidy, couldn't believe there was a family sleeping in reception over night, assuming there refugee room was booked out

We didn't stay but went for dinner. Very helpful friendly staff. Food was very good. A fairly basic menu but some interesting things there. Good service. The place has been done up very nicely. I would recommend a visit. Clearly still getting on their feet but definitely worth a try!
