Community Bank

Staff are usually nice and they genuinely try to help... but there are times you can see that they are poorly trained and do not care to be there. Their conversion rate is absolutely terrible. They no longer have pound accounts so its just pointless using them for direct deposits for rent. I got an account for the reason of getting rent set up easier. If you are new to the area, do not feel compelled to use them because of being closer. Do your research and look elsewhere. In my opinion, using banks in the local communities have been way easier to deal with than these guys. Would strongly not recommend them since their policy has changed to make you open a dollar account only to get smacked with their terrible conversion rate in paying your direct deposit manually. They use to be somewhat good to work with...

The customer service is often inconsistent. There seems to be a high staff turnover rate, which means finding someone experienced or knowledgable about their policies is difficult. The current hours are limited. Our family was told that they were our best option for paying rent when we arrived (the alternative being opening an off-base bank account). We now use transferwise.

People are nice as far as customer service goes; however, here are the issues I have. They charge high fees for people who have no option but to open a UK account. The staff is always new, so they never know what is going on. Their hours are absolutely horrible, and they are never open when you need them. Use transfer wire when possible or go off base and open a real UK bank.

Absolutely terrible. They're website and app are amateur and poorly designed. Bank transfers are a pain to do, if they work at all. Conversion rate is abysmal.
Go with someone else instead. Don't waste your time here. Military deserve better than this.

STAYYY AWAYYYY! The employees are fighting for their lives. It might seem convenient when you first move but it’s not worth the headache. The bank is useless. I PROMISE it’s better to go through the motions of getting a local bank account or you risk bills not being paid, stops being placed on your account, all for no real reason other than incompetence. Just thought I’d do my part and hopefully help the next person

They charge over 2.4% to convert currency. And, they refused to cash a US government bond because I was the wrong category of service member. And, this is subsidised by the US government? Our military service members deserve better. I will never do business with a Bank of America, ever!

We left this base last summer and they closed our accounts, as we asked, and we got mail saying it was closed and a cashiers check was attached. There was no check and I can’t get through on the phone to get the check. So the money left in our account is just gone? Just seems fishy. Do not recommend, go get a British bank or use an online account.

Customer service attitude, ATM, Unfair currency rate exchange, Online Banking apps and the website. The list goes on, if you guys have any other ideas for a better banks in the area please spread the word.
